Clinical Significance of IgM and IgG
IgM is the first antibody produced after infection. It can be detected in the blood which may indicate recent infection. Thus it is an auxiliary diagnostic indicator.
The VeraTemp® COVID-19 IgM/IgG Detection Kit (Colloidal Gold) may be suitable for the auxiliary diagnosis and epidemiological detection of Novel Coronavirus infection by combining detection of IgM and IgG antibodies.
IgG antibodies appear later than IgM. Research has shown that IgM, in the blood of Novel Coronavirus patients, starts to go down within 18 days of infection whilst IgG starts to go up and persist. This can be used as an indicator of epidemiological detection.
